Ingredients:-
Moong dal/paasi paruppu - 1/2 cupDoor dal - 1/4 cup
Small onion - 7 or 8 nos
Tomato - 1
Green chilli - 3 nos
Brinjal chopped - 1 cup
Potato chopped - 1 cup
Carrot chopped - 1 cup
Tamarind extract - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves - few
Salt and water - as needed.
Sambar powder - 1 tsp
To roast and Grind:-
Roast in 1tsp oil
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Coriander seeds - 1/2 tsp
Dry red chillies - 3 or 4 nos
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
Garlic - 1 cloves
To season:-
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Red chilli - 1 or 2 nos
Ghee - 1 tsp
Hing - a pinch
Preparation:-
- Pressure cook Moong dal and door dal upto 3 whistles; mash them and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan .
- Add Mustard seeds , urad dal, cumin seeds, curry leaves , hing and Red chillies and fry on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
- Then Add Small onion and tomato. saute for 3-5 minutes.
- Now add chopped vegetables. saute well.
- Add some salt while frying for easy cooking of the vegetables.
- Add water and the tamarind extract and cook till the vegetables get cooked.
- Then add Sambar powder and ground powder and boil for 4-5 minutes.
- Finally add the cooked dal and mix well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves
- Serve with idly, dosa or Pongal
