Ingredients:-
Channa /White Chickpeas - 1 cup
Bay leaf - 1
Cinnamon - 1
Cardamom - 1
Cloves - 1
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Green chilly - 1 or 2
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Salt
To Roast and Grind:-
Onion - 1 big
Tomato - 1
Green chilli - 1
Garlic - 5 or 6 cloves
Ginger - 1 tsp chopped
Preparation:-
- Soak the Channa Dal for 4 or 5 hrs.
- Pressure cook the Soaked Channa dal for 3 whistles until they are soft . Drain and keep aside.
- Heat a 1 tsp of oil in a pan. Add Chopped Onion, Tomato, garlic, ginger and green chilli. Saute for few more minutes .Let it Cool and Grind it until like a paste. Set aside.
- Heat oil in pan. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom , cloves, curry leaves and green chilli. Fry for 2 -3 minutes.
- Then Add the grounded paste followed by chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder , garam masala and salt. let it cook for 4-5 minutes or until raw smell goes.
- Add cooked Channa dal and 1 cup of water and mix well.
- Cook for 10-15 minutes on medium flame.
- Garnish with fresh chopped onion and coriander leaves.
