Dahi Vada/Thayir vada

  

Ingredients:-

1️⃣Medhu vadai / Utah dal vada - 5or 6
2️⃣Curd - 1 cup
3️⃣Salt - as needed
4️⃣Roasted Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp

To Temper:-
1️⃣Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
2️⃣Cumin seeds- 1/4tsp
3️⃣Curry leaves-few
4️⃣Dried red chili - 3 or 4 nos
5️⃣Asafoetida -a pinch

For garnishing:-
1️⃣Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
2️⃣Grated carrots - 1 or 2tbsp
3️⃣Chopped curry leaves- few
4️⃣Red chili powder -1 tsp
5️⃣Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
6️⃣Kara boondi/spice boondi- few (optional)
  


Method:-

1️⃣Combine the curds , cumin powder and salt in a bowl and mix well using a whisk.keep aside.
2️⃣ Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add red chillies, cumin seeds and mustard seeds . When mustard seeds splutter, , asafoetida and curry leaves. Turn off the heat. Set aside.
3️⃣Make deep fried vadas . Set aside.
4️⃣ Now take the vadas and drop it in a bowl filled with water. Then remove the vadas in 30 seconds , squeeze the excess water just by putting the vada in the middle of both your palms .
5️⃣Place vadas on a serving plate .
6️⃣Now pour curd mixture over the vadas. Let it  soak for 15 mins.
7️⃣ Now pour the tempering on top of whipped curd.
8️⃣Garnish with grated carrot , curry leaves, coriander leaves , red chilled powder and Spicy boondi on top and enjoy!!
